Nordhavn 86 is a rare example of a truly luxurious expedition yacht from a well-known manufacturer. The yacht is carefully cared for by a permanent crew, but the Owner, unfortunately, has too little free time to really enjoy long cruises on this boat - so the decision was made about her sale. The yacht is in excellent condition, with low engine hours, sale is directly from the Owner. All the necessary equipment and luxury items are on Board for enjoyable crossing of Seas and Oceans. We would like her next Owner to appreciate her capabilities.
Please, read the detailed description of this Sol yacht & Sons in English, referring to layout drawing which can be sent to you at your first request.
GENERAL
Sol & Sons is fitted out in beautiful teak with a 60% satin finish. This is classic Nordhavn build which is timeless, easy to maintain, hard wearing with an elegance most builders find hard to achieve. She is a boat that cossets yet maintains a practical and fit for purpose air about her.
Cockpit
Step aboard by means of her Besenzoni passerelle, and you enter the lower cockpit area with fixed seating and a beautiful high gloss teak table. Perfect for outside entertaining with guests and family. The cockpit and lower side decks have half inch teak covering them. There is a curved stairwell leading up to the pilothouse deck which gives a shady outside deck again with teak being a lovely feature. There is a BBQ on the lower deck in a fibreglass housing. For docking and line handling there are windlasses and clests port and starboard as well as a steering station with thruster and engine controls housed on the starboard side of the fixed seating. Go through the double doors into..
The Salon
Which offers a vast and comfortable area to relax with fixed sofa seating to starboard facing a TV lift with a 50 inch flat screen and full entertainment suite. Moving forward there is a well arranged with dining table (seating up to 10) to port whilst on Starboard there is a bar with high stools. The area features carpeting throughout. There is a panel in eth wall to the galley which allows the galley to be closed off form eth dining area and salon. There is also a Miele intergrated coffee machine. Moving forward to port and you enter…
The Galley
As one would expect, the galley lacks for nothing. Sub Zero fridges and freezers, Miele equipment including cooktop, microwave and oven. Broan trash compacter and enviable storage space. As mentioned the galley can be open to the dining and salon area, or if you prefer, shut away for privacy for guests and the chef. The flooring features teak and spruce.
Moving forward from the galley you go down a 3 steps and enter the first of the..
Guest Cabin (1) – middle level
This features an athwartship queen size double with ample storage and hanging lockers. The flooring is carpeted this cabin area has been customised as this area is normally given over to the master cabin. Instead this clever design gives two cabins on this level. Guest cabin (1) takes proportionally more room than…
Guest Cabin (2) – middle level
Accessed from either the salon or galley this a smaller bunk cabin or perhaps could be used as a Captains cabin. The heads to both mid level guest cabins are mirrored images of each other.
Coming out from these cabins back into the salon dining area there is a staircase with open treads and thick stainless steel handrails leading up into the
Pilothouse
The heart of any trawler and Sol and Sons pilothouse offers unrivalled space for skipper and guests to sit and relax whilst underway. There are two Stidd helm chairs and behind these is a large seating area with a high- low gloss teak table. The floors are teak and spruce. Sol & Sons choose the popular option of removing the ‘sky’ lounge and instead on this level has the
Master Cabin
Entered through a door on the starboard side across form the stairwell there is a corridor with the master heads with large shower and twin sinks before the cabin opens up to the full width of the pilothouse. There is ample stowage and hanging lockers and the double bed faces astern and enjoys an envious view out through the double opening door which lead out to the enclosed pilothouse level cockpit area.
If we walk back through the master cabin and down the pilothouse stairs we can take a trip down another flight down to the
Guest Cabins (3 & 4) – lower level
These two cabins port and starboard both have king size doubles and their own heads and offer unrivalled space and size for family or guests aboard. Both these cabins are carpeted. As well as full height hanging lockers, there is stowage in 5 drawers built into the beds. There is fresh air ventilation as well as seperate aircon to both cabins.
As you come down to this lower level, forward of the guest cabins is
Laundry area
As well as washer machine, dryer, linen storage and a further berth, there is also an extra day head. Which could be used by additional crew/maid. The main crew cabin are accessed from the cockpit via a door in the port bulkhead.
Crew Cabin
Finished in purposeful teak trimmed white formica, Sol &Sons crew quarters were adapted from earlier N86’s to allow for 4 crew berths in two cabins, port and starboard. There is a large communal area for crew to relax, cook and enjoy off watch and means that privacy is easy for owner and their guests as well as the crew themselves. There is a small galley with sink, microwave and stowage as well as seating area and table. On the forward bulkhead there is a watertight door leading to the
Engine room.
Enviable access to all machinery is the norm on our boat designs and Sol & Sons shows this at its highest level both main engines and the two Gen sets can easily be reached to check and maintain. Sound proofing and anti-vibration is a major consideration on such a vessel and this is done to the highest level achievable. The very best equipment is used (see specs) and Sol & Sons has had a full time engineer aboard keeping everything running to perfection. As mentioned she carries k of spares, tidally stored in the engine room and
Lazarette
Which again is accessed from the crew quarters, although there are two large access hatches to the lazarette in the cockpit floor. The steering gear, batteries, Atlas electrical system are all located in the lazarette as well as stowage for dive compressors and other equipment.
Coming out of the crew quarters and back outside we have some great outside space. The cockpit we have mentioned but take the starboard side deck and go up the stairwell, this leads you up onto the forward deck where we have stowed a Nautica 20ft tender with a 110hp Yamaha 4 stroke outboard. This is launched using the Marquip Hydraulic crane which can lift up to 3500Lbs or nearly 1600kg. There is room for jet skis or another tender in this deck too. The aft pilothouse design allows ‘The toys’ to be launched and recovered without inconveniencing guest using the cockpit areas. There is a large door in the Portuguese bridge with allows access onto the pilothouse level. There are steering stations and controls on each wing of the Portuguese bridge and moving down either side deck you make your way down to the mid-level cockpit, or perhaps we could call it the owner’s cockpit with access back into the Master cabin. We can enter the pilothouse again through the port and stbd stable doors and then head for the flybridge via the internal staircase to port.
