Motor yacht NORDIC STAR embodies Italian design and deluxe living at its best. M/Y NORDIC STAR was built by Italian CRN (Costruzioni e Riparazioni Navali) in 1978 and refitted in 2008 and 2012. She measures 37.2m (122ft) and accommodates up to 12 guests in 5 generous Staterooms.
Of particular interest is NORDIC STAR's history. The yacht was originally commissioned by the famous Italian actress Virna Lisi (proclaimed by Bridget Bardot as “the worlds most beautiful woman”), who owned the yacht for many years and entertained a large number of famous guests including, Frank Sinatra, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, to name but a few. Recently Prince Harry was onboard during the Formula 1 Races in Abu Dhabi in 2016.
NORDIC STAR has an elegant interior featuring fine Italian soft furnishings and warm amber toned wood panels, plenty of large windows allow ample natural light throughout the yacht. The salon and dining are a semi open plan with a low island creating a casual separation. Aft the salon boasts a large sofa, love seat and occasional chairs; forward the formal dining table and chairs epitomize refined Italian style.
NORDIC STAR can accommodate up to 12 guests, her master suite is forward on the main deck with a center lined queen size bed, love seat, vanity, study with private games area and ensuite facilities with his and hers sinks. A VIP cabin is on the lower deck starboard and forward with a queen size bed and ensuite facilities. A further double cabin is aft on port with a queen size bed and 2 Pullman berths. Two twin guests’ cabins are fore and aft, on port and starboard with single beds and ensuite facilities. All guests’ cabins are light, generous and offer plenty of storage.
The NORDIC STAR offers guests fabulous additional areas to relax and enjoy. The aft deck is easily accessed from the salon or side decks and features an alfresco dining option and wrap around built in custom sofas. Above, the sky lounge offers ample seating, panoramic windows and a state of the art entertainment center with 60’’ Flat screen TV. On the third deck is a large sundeck, perfect for a quiet escape on one of the chaise lounges, optional shade can be fitted forward if desired.
NORDIC STAR has a beam of 7.3m (23.9ft) and a draft of 2.7m (8.8ft), the yacht is powered by 2 CAT 980HP engines capable of speeds of 12 – 15 knots and boasts Koopnautic Zero speed stabilizers for ultimate comfort. Headroom in Master Stateroom, Bathroom and Main Salon is 6'6".

Nordic Star was originally commissioned by actress Virna Lisi, Italy’s answer to Marilyn Monroe, whom Bridgette Bardot once described as “the world’s most beautiful woman.” Lisi was born in Ancona, home to the CRN shipyard, and the yard was the natural choice for her to commission a yacht from.She designed everything to her personal taste, even to the extent that "all corners had to be round", otherwise her silk stockings would get caught. Following her launch Nordic Star played host to countless numbers of both Europe and Hollywood’s biggest talents over the years, including Frank Sinatra, Jack Lemmon, Anthony Quinn, and Tony Curtis.
Nordic Star was Lisi’s place to escape, to entertain, to enjoy.
Today, this classic yacht is as beautiful as it was back then. The sheer elegance of her lines – lines that are only possible with a steel hull – is head turning, especially in her current base, which is predominantly home to composite vessels. Lovingly maintained in reinstated original condition, with a sympathetic refit completed in 2012, she is a true classic and one of the few yachts of her age on the market that remains so close to her original design.
It has been the passion of her current owner to maintain her and preserve this exceptional piece of history – a classic yacht asset so well preserved that it has actually appreciated in value with every year. Featuring sumptuous Italian fittings, hand carved woods and antique furnishings, to step on board is to step back into a different era. Modern additions such as zero speed stabilizers and powerful entertainment systems ensure old meets new in the best possible way.
Nordic Star’s home port offers easy access to both the waters of the UAE and of the increasingly popular cruising grounds of Oman, which offers lush green setting, mountains, trees and rivers, all in contrast to nearby Dubai. Having seen little use other than short cruising trips around the region the yacht is in pristine condition.
Despite the passing of time and Nordic Star changing hands over the years, she still welcomes to some of the world’s best-known faces. One example is Prince Harry, who has been hosted onboard, during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix racing at Yas Marina where the yacht has a front row berth always reserved.
